Listz Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Varela Apps ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and disclosed when you use the Listz mobile application ("App"). By using Listz, you agree to the terms of this policy.
The short version. Everything you create in Listz stays on your device. We don’t run a server, we don’t have accounts, and we never see your lists. Ads, purchases, and crash reports are handled by Google, and are described in detail below.
Information We Collect
Data Stored Locally On Your Device
All lists, tasks, settings, statistics, coins, and unlocked content are stored exclusively on your device using secure local storage (Hive). We do not transmit or store this data on any external server. You can export this data at any time using the Save Data feature in Settings, and the resulting file stays entirely on your device.
No Account Required
Listz does not require account creation and does not collect usernames, passwords, or email addresses. No personal identity information is required to use the app.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and process:
- Device information (model, OS version, device ID)
- Advertising ID
- IP address
- App usage and interaction data
Review Google’s privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy and AdMob’s policies at support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543.
You can opt out of personalized ads at any time through your device settings under Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.
In-App Purchases (Google Play)
Premium features and coin purchases are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not collect, store, or have access to any payment or billing information. Google Play’s privacy policy applies to all transactions: policies.google.com/privacy
Crash Reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)
Listz uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to detect and diagnose app crashes and errors. When the app crashes or encounters an error, Crashlytics automatically collects and transmits a diagnostic report to Google’s servers. These reports may include:
- The crash or error stack trace
- Device model, manufacturer, and operating system version
- App version and build number
- Device state at the time of the error (available memory, storage, screen orientation, whether the device was rooted)
- A randomly generated Crashlytics installation identifier
- Whether the device has purchased Premium (used to reproduce issues; this is a yes/no value and is not linked to any payment or account information)
Crash reports do not include your lists, tasks, notes, attachments, or any content you create in the app.
The installation identifier is generated by Crashlytics and is not linked to your name, email address, or any account. Listz does not require an account, and Varela Apps has no way to connect a crash report to a specific person.
Crash data is processed by Google under its privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Details on what Crashlytics collects: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Crash reporting is used solely to identify and fix bugs. It is not used for advertising, marketing, or profiling.
Voice Recognition (Premium Feature)
If you use the Voice to List feature, your voice input is processed by your device’s speech recognition service (Google Speech Services). Audio is sent to Google’s servers for transcription and is not stored by Varela Apps. This feature requires microphone permission and is only activated when you explicitly tap the microphone button.
Camera / Barcode Scanner (Premium Feature)
If you use the Barcode Scanner feature, the camera is accessed solely to scan barcodes in real time. No images or video are stored or transmitted by Varela Apps.
File System Access
The Save Data and Load Data features in Settings read and write a local file on your device. This file contains your app data and never leaves your device unless you choose to share it manually.
Third-Party Links
Listz allows users to save URLs as items within their lists. Varela Apps is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or policies of any external websites accessed through these links. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit.
Permissions Used
- INTERNET — Displaying ads, processing purchases, and transmitting crash reports
- CAMERA — Barcode scanning (Premium feature)
- RECORD_AUDIO — Voice to List (Premium feature)
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Daily reminders and streak alerts
- READ_MEDIA / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — Loading save files
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party. Data is processed by the following Google services, all governed by Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy:
- Google AdMob — advertising
- Google Play Billing — in-app purchases
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash diagnostics
- Google Speech Services — Voice to List transcription, only when you tap the microphone
Data Retention
Varela Apps does not operate any server, and none of the content you create in Listz is stored outside your device. Your lists and app data persist until you delete them within the app, clear app data through your device settings, or uninstall the app.
Crash diagnostic reports are retained by Google Firebase Crashlytics according to Google’s retention schedule (typically 90 days for detailed reports). These reports contain no content from your lists and are not linked to your identity.
Data Safety (Google Play)
In accordance with Google Play’s Data Safety requirements:
- All content you create — lists, tasks, notes, settings, coins, and unlocked items — is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us
- Varela Apps does not operate any server and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or account credentials
- Firebase Crashlytics collects crash diagnostics and a random installation identifier, used only to fix bugs
- AdMob may collect Advertising ID and device information for ad serving
- In-app purchases are handled entirely by Google Play
- No collected data is sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes
Children’s Privacy
Listz complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. All app content is stored locally on the user’s device. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at listz.varelaapps@gmail.com and we will take appropriate action.
Your Rights
Since all content you create is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- Delete lists and data at any time within the app
- Export your data using Save Data in Settings
- Clear all app data through your device’s Settings → Apps → Listz → Clear Data
- Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
To request deletion of crash diagnostic data associated with your device, contact us at listz.varelaapps@gmail.com.
California Residents (CCPA)
We do not sell personal information. AdMob may collect device identifiers as described above, and Firebase Crashlytics collects a random installation identifier for crash diagnostics. You may opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings.
EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the EU or EEA, you have rights regarding your personal data under GDPR. Varela Apps does not operate a server and does not directly collect personal data. Data processing occurs through Google services — AdMob for advertising and Firebase Crashlytics for crash diagnostics — acting as processors under Google’s privacy terms. Crash diagnostics are collected on the basis of legitimate interest in maintaining app stability and are not used for profiling or advertising. You may contact us at the address below with any concerns.
Security
We implement appropriate measures to protect locally stored data. No electronic storage method is 100% secure, but all content you create in Listz remains on your device and is never transmitted to external servers by Varela Apps. Crash diagnostic reports are transmitted to Google over encrypted connections.
App Store
Listz is distributed through Google Play. Google Play’s terms of service and privacy policy apply to the download and installation of this app. Google Play’s policies can be reviewed at policies.google.com/privacy
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Varela Apps shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the app, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or any other intangible losses, even if Varela Apps has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Florida.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Changes are effective when posted. We will update the "Last updated" date accordingly. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
